S afr landed in the UK and hit the road for a two-day (12-13 February 2019) mobility event, MOVE: Mobility Re-imagined, in ExCeL London. Approximately 2,888 people from 74 countries attended #MOVE2019. Safr was also privileged to participate as both an exhibitor and speaker of the event.
MOVE brings together disruptors, their technology and their attitude with stakeholders across all modes and disciplines: to dialogue, to create insight and to promote collaboration. It guarantees to be more expansive and multi-disciplined than any other event on the planet and believes that new thinking and new action is required now because existing transportation paradigms are broken beyond repair and are often the cause of the problem, not the solution.
CEO Safr US, Syed Gilani, in his presentation focused on the fact that equal opportunity is an important issue. He said that the promise of an equal opportunity wasn’t fulfilled by the rideshare economy and women have been facing the safety issues in the male-dominant ride-hailing services. He told that Safr aims to become a problem-solver for this issue by providing a safe transportation method so that women don’t have to worry while traveling alone.
CEO Safr Pakistan, Syeda Ramla Hassan, highlighted the transportation problems of women in Asia how Safr aims to create a safe and empowered space for them in the rideshare economy. She addressed that Safr aspires to ensure that women are able to travel fearlessly at any time of the day, and participate fully in the public sphere. She clarified that Safr doesn’t discriminate against men and the mission isn’t possible without the support of both women and men. It welcomes all who believe in and support the mission of women’s safety and empowerment.
Safr welcomes all sorts of collaborations with organisations willing to use their resources, skills, knowledge and power to change women’s lives for the better. Let’s continue striving hard to make 2019 a year of women empowerment!
